Whilst the pandemic has, and continues to, take its toll on our mental health, the ability to reconnect through World Mental Health Day 2022 (10th October) provided us with an opportunity to re-kindle our efforts to protect and improve mental health.
The theme of World Mental Health Day 2022 is “Make mental health & well-being for all a global priority”. Here are what our colleagues are doing to raise awareness of mental health issues and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.
Mindfront Health’s Psychological Consultant’s Day: Love and Responsibility
When people feel sad and in need of understanding, guidance, or support, they are just like get lost on the most isolated island. Mindfront Health drew a map to guide those along to happiness. The map answers 10 most frequently asked and most confusing questions about mental health, presenting complex scientific concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.
Psychologists’ schedules are usually dominated by clients, and it is not easy for our team members to get together. However, things changed this year on World Mental Health Day, also Mindfront Health’s inaugural “Psychological Consultant’s Day”.
The management team gave an opening speech titled “Thanks to You, We Keep Growing”, thank you for your efforts”. They said that the connotation of World Mental Health Day coincides with the spirit of Mindfront Health’s pursuit of professional mental health services, and they thanked the team for their continuous efforts and dedication that drove the development of the industry.
The team had a chat themed “Love and Responsibility”, saying that love makes us responsible and capable caregivers, and he believed that in all our institutions and units, the team’s wholehearted commitment helps our patients to regain their happiness.
The most popular game was undoubtedly “time capsule”, which allowed each participant some quiet time to write down their wish list, seal it and then open the capsule one year later. Hope our dreams come true!
As described by the theme “love and responsibility”, our psychological consultants apply their innate empathy, sympathy and care to their work. Therefore, our team becomes stronger, our patients feel better, and our organization keeps growing.
Again, let’s give a big thanks to the lovely Mindfront Health team, and let’s expect a more wonderful Psychological Consultant’s Day next year!
Aurora Healthcare Australia’s Mental Health Month: Make Mental Healthcare Available to Those Who Need It
October is a big month at Aurora Healthcare Australia and those in the mental health space. Our hospitals are excited to see and be part of mental health awareness events, celebrations and conversations happening across the globe.
Let’s see how the sites get into the spirit of the month with the following events – for awareness, celebrations and conversations:
The Belmont Hospital team tried to mend broken hearts through arts and creative activities, for example, water colour painting, jam and sing with music therapist, and art exhibition. The team also participated in the Walk for Awareness.
In Brunswick Private Hospital and more sites, with Mental health week posters hung up around the site, a special buffet luncheon was held for patients and staff Mindfulness colouring activities are being offered to all patients during the week. In addition, therapists did a series of planned group sessions with a focus on mental health content.
South Coast Private Hospital kicked off its mental health week with a hospital-wide buffet for all patients and staff. A gratitude jar was also set due to its popular demand.
Eden Private Hospital got a full ward activity calendar including national ‘Elle the Elephant’ (which we have named Eden the Elephant) campaign. With the help of the patients, our wards were decorated in the theme of Circus with the main message meaning ‘Be the ringmaster of your own mind’. Each wing of the hospital is themed a different circus theme (ie. Walk the tightrope, stand tall, juggling your MH) and there is a suggested activity and games associated to the wing to improve our own mental health.
In South Eastern Private Hospital, nurses wore white shirt and ribbon for the whole week, and patient groups actively joined the gardening and wellness events.
In Townsville Private Hospital, “Project Speak Up” and its fundraising Lunch with Grace Tame sought to empower females through building a community of support, to prevent through education and awareness and elevate the community.
Aurora Healthcare is proud to be a provider of mental health care to the Australian community and continually strive to make mental healthcare not just a priority, but also available to those who need it.
