Medical education is rapidly changing but practice-based training is always important to ensure that the health workers with the right skills can deliver high-quality healthcare services in the right places.
Eden Private Hospital of Aurora Healthcare Australia, which has always been investing time in the future generation of our health workforce, recently partnered up with Coolum State High School to help support the Year 10, 11, and 12 students that are currently enrolled in a Certificate 2/3 in Health Services. The Staff from Eden Private Hospital shared real-life experiences of what it is like to work in health and all the different avenues a career in health can take them. Hopefully, this project will lead to more students entering the health workforce after school.
In order raise community awareness about mental health and educate health professionals about treatment options and referral pathways, Belmont Private Hospital holds educational events regularly throughout the year. It is also part of our ongoing commitment to General Practitioner and Health Professional education.
This August, two complimentary information events were hosted for General Practitioners and other health professionals interested in young adult mental health and Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS). The latter covered a wide range of topics including Medicare funding models, education on at what point in the depression treatment plan should General Practitioners refer for rTMS as well as a ‘real time’ demonstration of the procedure.
